Passport Info

The Consulate issues new passports to Bangladeshi nationals who can prove his/her nationality in two categories:

Replacement of Old Passport

Those who already have a passport and it is going to expire its ten years validity or already expired (10 years) can apply to the Embassy for a new passport. The applicant has to fill in a prescribed form submit it along with 4 copies photographs and the old passport. The existing passport (old) has to be submitted with the application. The holder of the passport need not come to the consulate for interview, his representative can submit the application. If the pages of a valid passport are exhausted, the holder can apply for a new passport following the same procedure mentioned above. However, for these cases when passport pages are exhausted the validity will be given according to the old passport.

If the passport is somehow considered damaged, the holder of the passport can have a new passport by surrendering the damaged passport and following the same procedure mentioned above. In such cases, the holder of the passport needs to appear before the consular officer of the embassy.

Fee:

  • Urgent delivery ( within 72 hours) : € 120
  • Ordinary delivery ( 15- 21 days) : € 80

New Passport Against Lost One

If the passport of a Bangladesh national is lost in Italy, the holder of the passport can apply for a new one. He/she has to submit a police report on the lost passport along with, photocopy of the lost passport, duly fill in prescribed application form( same form applicable for new passport) and 6 photographs. In the absence of the police report the Consulate is unable to issue a new passport. The person concerned must appear before the consular officer for an interview. He/she will be required to present other documents in support of his resident status in Italy.

If the passport (lost) was issued by this consulate, passport particulars will be verified with records kept in the consulate. New passport will be issued only after proper verification. For this case, only four photographs will be required.

If the passport (lost) was not issued by this consulate, rather issued by the Department of Immigration and Passport in Bangladesh or by a Bangladeshi embassy in Rome or another country, the application for new passport will be sent to the issuing authority for verification.

The Consulate, in selective cases, may waive police report from the place of lost, if the concerned police office decline to issue a police report. In this case, the person concerned has to fill in prescribed application forms in triple (3 copies of the same form) and submit the forms along with 6 photographs & preferably with the photocopy of the old passport. He/she needs to produce copy of S.S.C certificate/ copy of a valid document to support his/her claim of date of birth. The Consulate will refer all such cases to the Department of Immigration and Passport in Dhaka for prior verification and upon receiving their approval issue new passport. However, if the approval from Dhaka is not received within 21 days, the Consulate may consider receiving the fee for issuing a new passport for limited period pending approval from Dhaka considering the special need and urgency of the applicant.

Duplicate passport/passport against lost passport is issued initially for a period of 2 years which could be renewed later on for a further period of three years (without fee) provided the verification report from Bangladesh is satisfactory.

NB: For new passports the form must be filled in completely. The Consulate rejects incomplete application forms. Special care should be taken in filling in name, father and mother’s name, date of birth and specially the number & particulars of the holder’s earlier passport.

THOSE WHO ARE NOT LEGAL RESIDENTS IN ITALY/TOURISTS/TRAVELLING OR STAYING IN ITALY FOR DIFFERENT MOTIVES

If someone who is not a legal resident in Italy, has lost his/her passport in Italy or on his way to Italy and applies to the consulate for the first time for a passport, can do so by appearing physically before the consular officer. In this case he/she must face an interview with the consular officer.

The person concerned has to fill in prescribed application forms in quadruple (4 copies of the same form) and submit the forms along with 6 photographs & preferably with the photocopy of the old passport. He/she needs to produce copy of S.S.C certificate/ copy of a valid document to support his/her claim of date of birth. The consulate will refer all such cases to the Department of Immigration and Passport in Dhaka for prior verification and upon receiving their approval issue new passport. However, if the approval from Dhaka is not received with in 3 months, the consulate may consider receiving the fee for issuing a new passport for limited period pending approval from Dhaka considering the special need and urgency of the applicant.

New Passport for Children

A child could remain endorsed in his/her mother’s passport up to the age of maximum 12 years. In specific cases, based on real need, the embassy may consider issuing a passport to a child before he/she is 12. In such cases, photographs, along with the passports of parents need to be submitted with the application . Passport of the mother (also that of the father if the child is endorsed in his passport simultaneously) needs to be submitted for deletion of the child’s particulars. 4 photographs ( including 2 stamp size) along with prescribed filled-in application form and signed by the child/with left thumb impression need to be submitted. For first passport of a child, who was born in Italy and his/her particulars was never endorsed with the parents, Mission requires the following: 4 photographs (including 2stamp size) of the baby, parents’ photographs and passport copies, birth certificate and duly filled in application form including therewith the left thumb impression of the child.

Travel Permit

The Consulate issues one-way travel permit (with three months validity) to those Bangladeshi nationals who have lost their passport and want to return to Bangladesh. The applicant must appear before the Consular Officer for interview, has to fill in a prescribed form and submit it with four photographs.

FEE: € 28

Renewal of Passport

The Consulate renews/extends validity of passports without interviewing the holder of the passport. He/she or his/her representative can submit the passport for renewal.

Renewal of Passports Issued against Lost Passport

At present this passports are issued for 2 years. They are renewed gratis (without fee) for three years. Further renewal of these passports are done upon realization of fees.

Renewal of Passports which were issued initially for 5 Years

This passports are renewed maximum for five years upon realization of fees. The validity of a passport booklet is 10 years. A holder has to apply for a new passport whose existing passport is going to expire its 10 year validity.
